After the game with Tintwistle, they suggested that they would like a 20/20 match against oursleves!. I advised that I would have to put it to the committee etc, but sounds like a good idea. From this, if we wish to, we could take it one stage further and stage a mini 20/20 tournament at Dinting, which could involve 2-3 teams, including Tintwistle and the likes of Compstall.

With us putting things on such as a bbq, bar and entertainment during the event, the potential of revenue for the club would be massive. Obviously there would be a lot of work needed to be put in to arrange this, but I was hoping from views and go forward from there. Other options would be a 6 as side tournament, an annual cup event with just us and Tintwistle, or just simply stick to our pub six a side as our only external event..

Comments please :

As we have no nets available, we could do a 10 10 at practice on Thursday? We could pick teams when we arrive. With it only being 10 overs a side, we'd still be in the Grapes for 8pm.
I'll confirm with Ken that we can use the square.

Great idea. I could do with some sort of practice and if we can get on a proper track then even better.

Six-A-Side competitions are a hoot and far too rare for regular cricketers as the more common 'pub' competitions usually rule regulars out. You should seriously consider it. I even have a date for you - Sunday 13th August - And an interested, interesting team - Andy, Mike, Pete, Alex, Joe and Daniel (subject to Bridgey's approval!). A team full of Brightmore's, that would assist with bbq profits.
Obviously we wouldn't win it, as that honour would go to whichever team had the good fortune to have young Mr George playing for them (I have been reading the comments on this site and he is clearly an awesome cricketer, at least 'the hardest dintin player' seems to think so. I wonder if he has come to Mr Fletchers notice yet, can only be a matter of time.)
On a slightly different issue, I have now read 3 messages from Jared that were both sensible and mature! Is this a new member that I don't know, or has the boy finally grown up?

If the team you entered is as good as the tug-of-war team you entered into Glossop Carnival's competition, then you would duck out at the first hurdle. You had NO power!!

Hang on a minute!!!! What was Brad Pitt doing at the front of this tug-o-war team???????? And the Ginger guy 4 from the front, isn't that Bradley from Eastenders?

I've got some very influential friends. Also Brad Pitt's sister said the guy in green looked like David Beckham in the picture. Debatable!

As a friend of Brad's, he tells me he often competes in tug-of-war competitions as an excuse to get away from that ugly bird he's going out with. Apparently he's only with her for the money.

He rates the Glossop Carnival Tug Of War as the pinnacle of the sport, and says he dreams of one day capturing the title, but unfortunately can't seem to get the better of the lads from the Anchor, who weigh in at more than the English and New Zealand Rugby Union packs combined.

It's taken me ages to read this. In future, Robotic one, reduce the picture!
