This being the last game of the season, and as with previous years, preference is given to players who are moving up an age group. Once I've sorted out who they are, I'll start to pick a team!

As the season drew to a close, we played Broadie at home on a good Glossop cricketing day....just about fine with gale force winds.

Broadbottom batted first but were kept quiet by some ecellent bowling. For the first time this season, the fielding was poor, and there was no backing up at times, but the bowling made up for this. Wickets, however were hard to get and Adam (2), and Oliver (1) were the only wicket takers, with 1 run out. Broadbottom finished on 237.

Although I thought Braodbottom bowled well they were put to the sword by some excellent batting. Adam (24) and Oliver (4) opened the batting and gave no chances. Second in was Macey and Billy (3). Macey hit a superb 51, which is, for me, the first time I've seen a 50 at this level of cricket. Obviously, by getting a score that large in just 5 overs, Billy didn't get much of a chance, but his time will come, as he (and Oliver) have improved greatly this season.
The third pair of Matt (1) and Ellis (15) were never going to match the fireworks of the previous pair but didn't need to, and batted sensibly. The last pair of Reece (17), and George (14) also did the same. We only lost 1 wicket (an unlucky George) and finished on a massive 359.

So we've finished the season on a high, although every player who played today is leaving for the U13's next year. This means we'll be very light at U11 level, so if theres anyone you know, who wants to play, tell them to come on down to practise!

Thanks, as usual, to all parents for bringing your kids along and supporting them. As a side note I would say that this is the best behaved (yes I did say behaved!) group of players I've had since I started taking the U11's. Which has been handy as I've been on my own most of the time this season!

Special thanks to Hazel & Jackie for food when we're at home, Logie for his help in a couple of games, and Alex Clayton for scoring in a couple of games.

We don't know what the format for Juniors will be next season, but hopefully we'll see you all again.

PS Averages will be on here soon. They WON'T include the Hadfield game 'cause Pete forgot to give me a score sheet.
